Electrical - Fresh Start

Today I completely cleaned the the trunk and the back of the dash.  The trunk has been repainted with a flat black paint, designed to convert rust.  There was only a small amount of surface rust, so I just needed to clean it with a wire brush and start painting.  As you can see, I removed the fuse block - It is currently soaking to clean it up a bit.

I removed the gas tank and also cleaned and repainted the steering box area and front axle.

Next weekend is a busy weekend so I won't have any time to work on the project.  The next step is to re-wire the dash, gauges, switches, etc.  The "etc" being getting power to the engine.  So much of the main loom to the engine is in good shape that it doesn't really make sense to buy a complete wiring harness for $400.  So I'll make sure there's a fresh battery in my multimeter and I'll get busy...one wire at a time.

I'd like to get the engine running before it gets too cold outside.

I've found a ton of good information on the web - good sources to help restore and rebuild, as well good parts suppliers.  Over the next week, I'll post some of my favorite links.

Lastly, while looking at some previously posted pictures, I noticed that the inside of the trunk is actually Willow Green - YIKES!!! I named the damn project "Project Zambezi" because I thought the car was Zambezi Green.  Well, the exterior is (mostly) Zambezi Green...I plan on repainting it (at this time) Zambezi Green.  I'm trying to make sense of the paint codes from the factory plate...no such luck yet.

Looking at the pictures, the gas tank looks horrible.  Its brand new; the prior owner bought a Brazilian made tank, but never installed it.   I think I'll take the time to give it a fresh coat of paint as well, before I officially hook it up.
